Wildly Entertaining: Bowling For Soup Is Returning To Lubbock
Fun Fact about me: the first show I was ever allowed to attend by myself was Bowling for Soup, right here in Lubbock. It's a very fond memory because the band took the time to talk to people at that club-sized show- they even talked to me! And they were so funny and sweet and kind.
Bowling for Soup is notoriously entertaining, with on-stage banter that's just as fun as all those upbeat and hilarious songs like 1985, Girl All the Bad Guys Want, Almost, and High School Never Ends.
Oh, and they also did the theme song for one of the most fondly-remembered cartoons of all time: Phineas and Ferb
Bowling For Soup was last in Lubbock for the inaugural Tacos & Tequila Fest, and as someone who was in the 3rd-ish row, I can say with confidence that they were arguably the crowd's overall favorite in a really stacked line-up. It was really good vibes.
BFS will begin the October leg of their tour at Lubbock's Cook's Garage (11002 Highway 87). We are the only date in which BFS will be supported by The Vandoliers and Ronnie and The Redwoods.
A couple of things to know about Cook's in case you've never been: there is a strict clear bag policy in place and unaccompanied minors (15-20) must pay a $10 cash-only upcharge at the gate. There are multiple parking areas and entry gates that make getting in and out a breeze and the multi-bar setup works extremely well. The big stage is nice and large and is outside, so plan accordingly.
Tickets go on sale at 10 AM today (May 12) for the October 12 show and are available from Eventbrite. I highly recommend you only buy them from that particular website- as scams and ridiculous scalper prices are rampant.
See you there, we'll party like it's 19, 19, 1985.
