Flying is stressful. The fight to get to the airport on time, trying to get through security, finding your way to the boarding gate, and trying to convince yourself that you don't need whatever you forgot to pack are all just the tip of the iceberg.
Four airports in Texas were just given the honor of being named among the most stressful airports in the nation. Out of almost 400 airports, one in Texas was even named in the top 10.
East Texas Regional Airport Ranks 48th
East Texas Regional Airport was named in the top 50, out of 384, most stressful airports in the nation. It ranked 48th.
What put this Texas airport so high up in the rankings was the average departure delay time and the percentage of flights that get canceled. The average departure delay time was almost 21 minutes, and the percentage of flights that get canceled was 6.6%.
George Bush Intercontinental Airport Ranks 41st
George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston ranked 41st. I've flown out of this airport several times in my life, and it's the only place I've missed a flight. I was unprepared for the traffic and the wait at security.

What put this airport over the top was the average delay in arrivals. The average amount of time for arrival delays was 8.73 minutes.
DFW Airport Cracks The Top 20
DFW ranked 15th in the list. This is another airport I've been known to have issues at on more than one occasion.
The reasons it ranked so high were the delays in departures and arrivals. The average delay for arrivals was 13.71 minutes, while departure delays were 20.24 minutes on average.
Tyler Pounds Regional Airport Breaks Top 10
The most stressful airport in Texas, according to this study done by Spin The Wheel Generator, is Tyler Pounds Regional Airport. Delays were what put it in the top 10.
According to the study, the average delay for arrivals was 42.29 minutes. The average delay for departures was 31.26 minutes. That's quite a delay.

The real bright spot in the study was the percentage of flights that get canceled. When it comes to Texas airports, the percentages were relatively low. So, even if your flight is delayed you can rest in the knowledge that it probably won't get canceled.
It's a good reminder to stay on top of the latest flight information and have a plan if you are going to be catching a flight. Delays happen, flights get canceled, and the unexpected is always lurking around the corner.
