On Saturday, it was the third week in business for this brand new facility in Katy, Texas. It's called The Rac, it's a baseball field rental service that teams and clubs can rent out. Sadly, this new facility is in the headlines today for all the wrong reasons. The video above showed children and coaches running for safety as bullets were heard in the distance. Actually, the coach in burnt orange just stood there wondering what was going on.
The Rac's Statement on the Situation
What the video doesn't show, is that on one of the other fields, a coach was hit in the shoulder. He was airlifted off the field and good news, he was released from the hospital on Sunday night. However, many are wondering why someone would be hunting towards a youth baseball facility. If you scroll through the comments, someone claimed it was not illegal hunting. The Rac said the following:
"In the “country” people shoot on their land all the time. At the time we were unaware of anything in season. Now that we have more information, we know that their were 3 individuals target practicing 600/700 yards away. Just a TERRIBLE accident. Our thought and prayers go out to all the families
One of the teams that played at the facility on Saturday told NBC News, they will be more selective with where they play their games at in the future.
