The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe is the oldest Native American reservation in Texas and they announced some big plans.

The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas boasts a unique story dating back to before the 1700s according to their website. The Tribe operates on the oldest reservation in the state located on approximately 10,200 acres in the Big Thicket of Deep East Texas.

The Tribe is a fully functioning sovereign government with a full array of health and human services, including law enforcement and emergency services. There are more than 1,300 members, about half of whom live on the reservation.

If you didn't know, there are casinos in Texas and The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe already has one in operation called "Naskila Casino" on its reservation, but now they plan to open up a new resort soon!

According to a press release, specific details are still being finalized and no opening date has been announced, but the new resort may offer a variety of amenities including: a state-of-the-art casino floor, hotel accommodations, and diverse dining and entertainment options.

The Tribe has engaged the architectural firm FFK.R to design the new resort. FFKR is known for its innovative and creative designs..

In addition to the new casino resort, the Tribe is planning an extensive remodel to its existing Ischoopa/One Stop Convenience Store and Truck Stop. The remodel will include adding electronic bingo machines.
