Are Texans Really Starting Their Day with This Peculiar Beverage?
As I sluggishly made my way out of bed this morning, I contemplated if I wanted to make myself some coffee. I’m not a big coffee drinker, and by that, I mean that I don’t drink it every day, and am more likely to go for some tea. However, there are those mornings where you really need a pick-me-up and you know a nice cup of joe will really the spot.
When making coffee, there are so many options and different types of drinks you can make yourself. You can go with straight up drip coffee, espresso, or cold brew, and then you can add a variety of flavors, milks, and other additions.
Most coffee drinkers have a preference, always ordering classics like black drip coffee, or maybe a vanilla latte. However, some of us like to mix things up a bit. You can add espresso to chai or matcha lattes, you can add cold brew to seltzer water, so on, and so forth.
One combination you might not think of, but has made its way into the mainstream is adding espresso to Dr Pepper.
I was a bit taken aback when I first heard about that, but I quickly realized how much those flavors would actually work together. The sweet, dark soda mixed with the bitter coffee could make for a delightful combination, especially with a splash of cream in the mix.
Apparently, this drink is not too uncommon to find at Texas coffee shops, especially with the addition of different syrup flavors like vanilla or strawberry. I even saw that a local coffee shop is serving a variation of this drink right now as a part of their Valentine’s menu.
Although it might sound a bit strange, especially for people that aren’t particularly fond of Dr Pepper, but I think it is worth a try if you enjoy the soda.
