Lubbock Emergency Crews Responding To Fire On Marsha Sharp Freeway
Lubbock Fire and Rescue crews have been responding Tuesday afternoon to a fire and accident on the Marsha Sharp Freeway near I-27.
Reports claim a crane was on fire and debris had fallen from the Marsha Sharp Freeway. There were also reports vehicles being involved in an accident with injuries on site.
According to KAMC, the public was asked to avoid the area of the Marsha Sharp Freeway from University Avenue to Interstate 27 and Eastbound lanes from Avenue Q to I-27 were shutdown.
As of 3:30 p.m. the intersection at the Marsha Sharp Freeway and Avenue Q had been re-opened for westbound traffic.
According to an alert from LBK Alert says some lanes will be closed for hours.
The Eastbound lanes of Marsha Sharp Freeway will be closed between the Avenue L exit and the I-27 exit ramps. The closure is expected to last multiple hours. Please seek alternate routes of travel.
