One of Texas’ Most Wanted Sex Offenders was Arrested in Lubbock
One of the most wanted sex offenders in the state of Texas was arrested in Lubbock County. 62-year-old David Thomas is wanted in Texas after a warrant was issued for his arrest back on March 21, 2023. The arrest warrant states that Thomas was wanted for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and is required to register every three months due his status as a high-risk.
Thomas was first arrested back in 1982 when he was arrested and convicted of Burglary of Habitation with the Intent to Violate or Abuse a Victim Sexually. This 1982 arrest did involve a female victim who, at the time, was just 15-years-old and led to Thomas being sentenced to five years in prison. During his time behind bars Thomas was convicted for that same incident but involving an 11-year-old girl and received 10 more years of prison time added onto his sentence.
It wasn't until the early 90's that Thomas was convicted of Theft resulting in a jail sentence of 25 more years. Later in 2002 is when Thomas was convicted, again, this time for Robbery and was sentenced to five years of prison time. He was later released years later in 2017.
The Texas Department of Public Safety had issued a $3,000 reward for any information that led to Thomas' arrest. An anonymous tip was sent in to the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office and local law enforcement was able to arrest him without incident. Thomas is the second person from the Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders list to be captured in Lubbock. That last arrest was Stacey Allen back on April 26, 2023.
