On July 18, someone started a fire on a bridge in Lubbock's MacKenzie Park, and according to KAMC, that bridge remains closed this week.

According to KAMC, Lubbock Fire Rescue was called out to MacKenzie Park at around 4:35pm on July 18. The call to Lubbock Fire Rescue was for a "fire on a bridge" in the park. Fire Fighters arrived on scene to put the fire out. The bridge has been closed to the public since the fire and will remain closed until all repairs are made to the bridge.

KAMC reports that the investigation and cause of the fire is still on-going.

LFR and the Fire Marshal’s investigator went to conduct “a fire cause” and scene examination, and considered the fire to be undetermined at the time.

LFR said the City of Lubbock Parks and Recreation was notified and had shut the bridge down. Additionally the bridge had to be repaired given the severity of the damage.

No word on if there are any suspects at this time.
