Senator Ted Cruz Wants To “Lock the Clock” And Stop The Time Changes, But There Is A Problem
If there is one thing most Americans can agree on it's that we are tired of the time change twice a year. Getting on a new sleep schedule, adjusting clocks, having our bodies adjust to the new time, it's a pain.
And now Senator Ted Cruz and others in the U.S. Senate are looking at what they call "Lock the Clock" which would end standard time and keep the United States of
Daylight Saving Time forever. Or maybe get rid of Daylight Saving Time and go to permanent Standard Time.
And that's the problem. No one can agree on which time to stay at.
Texas' Ted Cruz Wants to Lock the Clock
During a Senate hearing on Thursday, lawmakers agreed they all wanted to end the practice of changing times, but they heard from many experts who were split on whether to stay of Standard or Daylight Saving Time. According to Politico, Cruz said that both sides presented real and complicated issues.
“There are very real and complicated issues and countervailing arguments on both sides,” Cruz said. “There is widespread agreement on locking the clock … but the reason we’re holding these hearings is because these are real arguments and they have real impacts on people.”
Don't Expect Anything To Change Soon for Texas
After reading some of the testimony from Thursday, both sides presented good information and it became clear that there is no perfect answer for everyone. Even the White House called it a "50/50" issue that was hard to get excited about.
So when the Fall rolls around this year, just get ready to "fall back" an hour again.
