These Are Some Of The Best Places To Fish In Texas In April
Spring is here and for many that means getting back out on to lakes, or bringing out some chairs and setting up on a bank somewhere while casting a line to fish. Fishing and being outdoors has grown since Covid and it remains popular today.
Texas has a ton of great lakes, rivers, creeks, and local ponds to fish at. It can get overwhelming and a little confusing to know where you should go to have the best luck at catching something.
Fortunately, The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department puts out a great guide each week that informs you of how lake conditions are throughout the state of Texas. The reports also tell you the baits that are working well. You can also find information about stocking reports in rivers, small lakes, and ponds. It's all great information that anglers need to have.
This week's fishing report says the following about some of the Panhandle Plains Region:
Alan Henry GOOD. Water clear; 63 degrees; 4.74 feet below pool. Crappie good on minnows in 1-4 feet of water and in 8-15 feet of water. Report by The Bait Shop, Post, Texas.

Spinnerbaits and chatterbaits are landing catches in 2-6 feet of water on shad and perch colors. White bass are good in the Colorado River on crankbaits rattle traps. Crappie are fair on minnows and small jigs in the back of shallow pockets and coves. Catfish, good on cut shad and shrimp. Report by Wendell Ramsey, Ramsey Fishing.
In the Hill Country, Lake Brownwood is reported as "Good" and in the Prairies and Lakes Region there are many lakes reported as "Good".
