A man from Weslaco, Texas, was recently sentenced to over two decades in prison for enticing a minor and production of child sexual abuse material.

Devastating Crimes Against a Child in Texas

24-year-old Walter Wilkins pleaded guilty on December 20, 2024, after it was discovered that he produced sexual abuse material involving children under the age of 16. He was also a repeat offender against minors.

The horrific actions came to light when the mother of a 13-year-old girl reported a sexual assault of her child.

It was alleged that Wilkins had picked her up and offered her vape pens in exchange for sexual acts. He had created explicit material depicting the minor during these acts that he threatened to share to her classmates if she refused to comply.

It was discovered that not only was Wilkins out on bond for two other state cases involving child sex abuse, but he also lured minors with vape pen advertisements online. He then would force the minor into sexual acts in exchange for payment.

Wilkins' Additional Punishments

HSI San Antonio acting Special Agent in Charge John A. Pasciucco emphasized the importance of stopping these nightmares from occurring to Texas children:

Wilkins' actions represent the worst kind of predatory behavior, targeting and exploiting vulnerable children in our community.

In addition to the 276-month (23 years) sentence, Wilkins must pay $13,564 in restitution to the victims' families and will be under supervision for the rest of his life after his release, according to the news release from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He will also need to register as a Texas sex offender.
