A Wolfforth French restaurant is expanding their business to Lubbock and that's even before being named as one Texas' best.

Chez Sami is a local French restaurant in Wolfforth that serves some of the tastiest food that you can find on the South Plains. This restaurant is also very unique in the sense that they are BYOB (bring your own bottle) friendly which means you can pair your food with the perfect wine or drink every time you go.

As well as being a French restaurant in a small town this business is locally owned by an actual chef with a background in international fine dining. The owner, Chef Jon Walter, left his job in 2019 and moved back to Lubbock to be closer to family and like all of us was affected by the pandemic. Chef Jon took this time opportunity and the need to support his family to open up his own business, this first business involving tamales. Chef Jon learned his grandmothers tamale technique and began selling those tamales leading to a high demand and the purchase of a building for The Tamale Lady business.

It was in this building that Chef Jon decided to put his background in fine dining on private yachts to good use and was showcasing some of the most beautifully exquisite meals around. The demand for the fine dining outgrew the demand for tamales and that's how the restaurant Chez Sami, named after Chef Jon's daughter, was born. This restaurant recently started allowing walk-ins but mostly takes reservations that can be made in advance via their website.

Chez Sami recently announced that they would be expanding the business from Wolfforth and have a location in downtown Lubbock where they are sure to feel right at home with some of the other food classics of the Hub City. They will be located at 1219 Crickets Avenue, where the old Mexican Hideout restaurant was once located, and will be fulfilling Lubbock foodies and food enthusiasts from all overs dreams of trying the tastes of France without needing a passport.

Along with their big move Chez Sami was also recently recognized by AAA Magazine as one of the best small restaurants in the entire state of Texas. Out of eight they did rank very high as number three on the list of restaurants with their Parisian atmosphere and amazing food. If you aren't sure what to order on your first, or second trip, the beef wellington is sure to be memorable but AAA magazine does insist on the short rib bourguignon and crème brûlée. More information about Chez Sami can be found on their website, along with their menu and catering inquiries.
