There have been some legendary musicians to represent the state of Texas; all the way from El Paso to Texarkana. And some of those musicians get forever immortalized in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. In fact, we've seen Texas legends get recognized right from the start as one incredible guitarist who honored at the very first Hall of Fame Class back in 1986.

Who were the inductees for the Class of 1986 in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?

Some of the biggest names of rock were inducted, names that we've definitely expect to see: Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ray Charles, Fats Domino... 16 total musicians were inducted in that very first year. But the name that represented Texas on the list was the legendary...Buddy Holly from Lubbock, Texas; a name the world lost way too soon on February 3rd, 1959.

During the ceremony, it was John Fogerty would induct Buddy Holly into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. John talked about how much Buddy's playing with The Crickets inspired him to pick up a guitar. He would then introduce Buddy's wife, Maria, and his daughter, Elena onto the stage who would accept the award on Buddy's behalf.

After Buddy would be inducted, the Rock Hall would see more countless Texas legends too. Names like ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, Willie Nelson would follow suit and be immortalized in the Hall of Fame. But I think it's very fitting that the first one to represent the state was a name that will live on and stand the test of time...
