This weekend at Buffalo Springs Lake, just 15-munutes east of Lubbock, it's the 'King of the Grill' BBQ Cookoff' and the deadline for registration has been extended!

Here's everything you need to know:

Judges are still needed too!

The best part of these competitions at the lake is that I get to see all my BBQ buddies, I get to judge (and sample) GREAT food all day long, and I do it all from the comfort of my golf cart with the attached cooler full of ice-cold beer! I mean, the camping area where everyone sets up is literally 300 yards from my front door. It's fantastic!

One of my favorite things about living at Buffalo Springs Lake is the constant, wonderful smell of campers and neighbors lighting up their grills and cooking outdoors.

I love to cook both in the kitchen and on the grill. As a matter of fact, one of my best buddies and I built a ridiculous 'Redneck Rig' that we haul all over the lake on the weekends to cook for our friends either at the beach, the meadow, or in our yards. It's a BLAST and everyone loves it!

Here's a picture of our Redneck Rig from one day this summer when we parked it by the marina beach (we call it the 'little beach') and cooked chicken and sausage for anyone who stopped by.

And here's my awesome South African neighbor, John James, cooking us some of his special BBQ from his home country. Which is almost EXACTLY the same as Texas BBQ, but their sauce is a little 'fruitier' than ours, for lack of a better word.

So, make plans to head out to Buffalo this weekend as a cooking team, a judge or just to people watch. I guarantee you'll have a good time!
