‘Growing Pains’ Star Kirk Cameron Is Coming to Lubbock
"Growing Pains" actor Kirk Cameron will speak at a fundraiser for Lubbock Christian School this February.
According to a press release from Lubbock Christian School, Cameron will speak at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Thursday, February 16, 2017:
Lubbock Christian School is pleased to announce that Kirk Cameron, television and film actor/producer has graciously accepted our invitation to speak at our annual fundraiser event. We are thrilled to have him as our honored guest and look forward to a fun-filled evening.
Tickets to the fundraiser, which benefits the school, are $100 each, or $1,000 for a table of eight people. They can be purchased by contacting the school at (806) 796-8700.
Kirk Cameron catapulted into stardom for his role as Mike Seaver on ABC's hit 80/90s TV show, "Growing Pains." He also starred in the Left Behind movies. Cameron has since become a major voice for the Evangelical movement. Along with his wife Chelsea, they've created The Firefly Foundation and Camp Firefly, which helps severely and terminally ill children and their families.
Cameron is also no stranger to controversy. The actor sparked anger in 2012 during an interview with CNN's Piers Morgan when he said that "[homesexual marriage is] detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization."
He later walked those comments back, but remains a staunch voice for Evangelical values in America.
