Rock 'n' roll pioneer Little Richard is turning 81 years old in December and apparently, he thinks it's time to hang it up.

He tells "Rolling Stone", "I am done, in a sense. I don't feel like doing anything right now." He also adds, "I think my legacy should be that when I started in show business, there wasn't no such thing as rock 'n' roll.

"When I started with 'Tutti Frutti', that's when rock really started rocking."

Little Richard hasn't performed much recently, and when he has, it hasn't been easy. Last year, he ended a performance early...telling the crowd, "Jesus, please help me! I can't hardly breathe. It's horrible."

He's also dealt with health issues recently...especially with his legs, back and hips. He had hip replacement surgery in 2009, and has said it's still causing him pain, but doesn't want to have any more work done on it.

"Rolling Stone" says he now spends his time "designing clothes and praying."

His last album was Disney's "Shake It All About", which came out in 1992.
