In case you didn't know, "margarita" is Spanish for "daisy." The big difference between the popular Margarita drink we know and love and the Daisy is that Margaritas are made with tequila. The traditional daisy uses brandy.

One "Danny" Negrete of Puebla, Mexico is credited as the inventor of the margarita back in the mid-30s. The story goes that his girlfriend liked salt in her cocktail, so he came up with the salty/sweet concoction as a present to her. AHHHH, love.

Danny's expression of love for his partner has made it's way around the world with different versions of the drink. But, the hands-down winner of the best ever made is right here in Lubbock, Texas. A loooong way from Puebla, Mexico!

If you haven't had the luxury of enjoying a delicious Chimy's "marg", you're seriously missing out. They offer a varity to choose from as well:

-The Lexus made with Jarana Reposado
-The Cadillac made with Cabrito Reposado
-The Ferrari made with Hornitos Plata
-The Goat made with Casamigos Blanco
-The Silverking made with Jarana Blanco

My buddy Kyle Wright opened Chimy's in 2002 after graduating from Texas Tech. He and some friends actually lived on the property. Yes, it was their house and we used to hang out there like any college house.

One day he told everybody he was going to open a restaurant there and serve "gut rockets and coldies". Most of us, myself included, really didn't think the idea would take off. Boy were WE wrong! Chimy's quickly became a Lubbock staple and is still serving up "gut rockets and coldies", as well as their now famous margaritas, to this day!

So, swing by Chimy's off of Broadway & University and order the beef fajita nachos, a side of "mud", and margarita of your choice. Thank me later.

Most Remaining Fuddruckers Are In Texas, Here's Where To Find Them

Fuddruckers began in San Antonio in 1979. At its height in the late 90s, there were 150 Fuddruckers locations. Now only 54 remain, with 6 of those in the dubious state of "temporarily" closed.
