If you are someone who appreciates history, craftsmanship, and boots, you won't want to miss out on the newest exhibit at the Museum of Texas Tech University. The Museum announced on Friday that an exhibit featuring Lubbock Boot Makers opened on Thursday, December 3rd.

The exhibit called, Lubbock Boot Makers: Innovation and Artistry will be open to the public through the end of January 2021. According to a press release, the exhibit at the Museum of Texas Tech University features two talented boot makers that were innovative from Lubbock. One of those boot makers is Willie Lusk who was a premiere boot maker who had unique stitching and used his attention to craft to make a Lusk boot a prized possession to have.

The exhibit was curated by Dr. Jill Hoffman, Curator of Education and Assistant Director for Visitor Experience at the Museum, who says it is an honor for the Museum to share the Lusk Story. “He was an extremely talented artist and craftsman who drew attention to Lubbock because of his remarkable skill. A Lusk boot, I have learned, inspires awe and respect in those who are collectors. Willie Lusk is deserving of attention and praise, especially from Lubbock.”

The exhibit also features the craftsmanship of contemporary artisan, Brad Glenn.

The Museum of Texas Tech University is open Thursday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Museum will be closed December 23rd through January 6th for the holidays. The Museum is free and is located at 3301 4th Street. Masks are required.
