Lubbock Women Leaders Gather For The First ChambHER Luncheon

Lubbock has no shortage of incredible women leading businesses, educating students, improving healthcare, and serving our community every single day.

Now, those accomplishments are getting the spotlight they deserve.

The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce has announced its first-ever ChambHER Luncheon, a brand-new event designed to celebrate women's leadership and inspire the next generation of community leaders.

And judging by the lineup, this one is going to be worth putting on your calendar.

A New Tradition Begins In Lubbock

The inaugural ChambHER Luncheon, presented by Geary Law, will take place on Wednesday, August 26th, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the West Texas Home Builders Association.

The date wasn't chosen by accident, it falls on National Women's Equality Day, making it the perfect opportunity to recognize the women helping shape Lubbock's future.

According to the Chamber, the luncheon is about more than awards or recognition. It's about creating meaningful conversations, sharing personal stories, and highlighting the experiences of women from all walks of life.

Whether they're leading companies, working in traditionally male-dominated industries, raising families, launching careers, or volunteering throughout the community, the Chamber says every woman's story deserves to be heard.

An Impressive Panel Of Local Leaders

The inaugural panel features three women whose careers have made a tremendous impact across West Texas.

Leading the discussion will be Dr. Lori Rice-Spearman, President of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and the first woman to lead an institution within the Texas Tech University System. After nearly four decades at TTUHSC, she's helped transform healthcare education while earning statewide recognition for her leadership.

Joining her is Dr. Cicely Alexander, Executive Director of Counseling and College, Career & Military Readiness for Lubbock ISD. With more than 30 years in education, she's dedicated her career to helping students, educators, and future leaders succeed.

Rounding out the panel is Dr. Brooke Hobgood, President and Chief Operating Officer of Masked Rider Capital. A board-certified anesthesiologist, entrepreneur, and founder of Ivy Specialty Compounding, she brings a unique perspective on leadership, business, innovation, and community service.

Keeping the conversation moving will be familiar face Christy Hartin, longtime news anchor at KCBD-TV, who will serve as the event's emcee.

Celebrating The Women Who Help Build Lubbock

The idea for the luncheon came from 2026 Chamber Board Chair Chris Chambers, who wanted to create an event that recognizes the women making a difference throughout our community.

It's a fitting addition to the Chamber's mission of connecting local businesses and strengthening Lubbock through leadership and collaboration.

Tickets are available now, with individual Chamber member tickets priced at $65, non-member tickets at $85, and tables available for businesses and organizations looking to attend together.

Events like this are a great reminder that some of Lubbock's biggest success stories aren't just about buildings or businesses, they're about the people leading them.

And on August 26th, the spotlight belongs to the women who continue helping move our city forward.
