Lubbock City Councilman Randy Christian Will Seek Reelection
Lubbock City Councilman Randy Christian will seek a second term on the Lubbock City Council in 2022. Christian made the announcement on his Facebook page late last week. Christian was elected as the District 5 representative in 2018 when he ran unopposed.
In his reelection bid, the race won't be as easy. At least one other candidate has already announced they would challenge Christian in the upcoming election.
Christian said in his video that over the next few weeks he will begin campaigning and get his reelection campaign going. Christian also said that he believes that "quality of life" issues will be big for Lubbock's future.
With that said, I believe one of the biggest challenges in the future is to continue to find ways to improve our much sought after quality of life. But just as if not more important is to encourage good folks to find ways to retain, nurture and share our unique West Texas culture, heritage, and values.
Christian also addressed growth in Lubbock saying that it was inevitable and that how the City addresses and manages that growth is key.
After the failure of the street bond, Christian has been vocal about trying to find a path forward. Christian even held a meeting at City Hall recently to discuss the failed bond package and asked voters to share their thoughts and ideas.
Citizens have until February 18th to file for office for the Lubbock City Council. Districts 1,3,5 and the position of Mayor are all on ballot for the May 7th municipal election. April 25 is the first day of early voting.
