The City of Lubbock Public Health Department announced on Tuesday that they will begin providing COVID vaccines for children aged 6 months through 5 years old. The City of Lubbock's Public Health Department will offer the Moderna vaccine and the Pfizer vaccine.

The Health Department will begin vaccinations of younger children on Thursday, June 23rd. Vaccines are also expected to be available at other doctor and pediatrician offices around the city.

According to a press release from the City of Lubbock, the Health Department has plenty of vaccines and boosters for those who want them.

COVID-19 vaccines and boosters are available at the Public Health Department, located at 806 18th Street, on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. Appointments are preferred, but walk-in clients are accepted. The COVID-19 vaccines are free of charge.

To schedule an appointment, or to learn more about these vaccines, citizens can call the Public Health Department at 806-775-2933.

The Lubbock Health Department also stressed that you talk to you child's doctor about the vaccine and to see if they are available in their offices. COVID numbers around the United States have seen a slight increase over the last few weeks, but nothing compared to past increases.

Remember, no one is required to get the vaccine.
