Lubbock ISD School Board Candidate Arrested for Fraud Days Before Election
Candidate for an At-Large seat on the Lubbock ISD School Board, Amanda Banks, was booked into the Lubbock County Jail and charged with insurance fraud.
Banks turned herself in after finding out she had a felony warrant for insurance fraud $2,500- $30,000. She was booked in the Lubbock County Jail on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, just four days before the election.
According to KCBD, Banks had reported being the victim of seven property crimes and filed 21 insurance claims between 2009-2016. The latest claiming damage that included vandalism and racial slurs carved into her furniture. The damage, however, was confined to replaceable items; her home itself not damaged.
It's now believed that Banks caused the damage herself in order to collect from her insurance company.
