A Lubbock man was arrested the morning of Tuesday, March 31st after being accused of crashing his van into an SUV in the 6200 block of University Avenue.

KAMC News reports that 57-year-old Scott Christopher Ely was following a woman who he was dating had left their shared residence with a friend, and that he was following them.

Ely claims he positioned his car in front of the other, but witnesses say that there was a chase.

An officer reports that damage was observed to the victim's vehicle on the left rear quarter panel that didn't consist with Ely's claims of slow speed.

The officer later concluded that Ely used his vehicle like a deadly weapon.

Ely was released the next day from the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
