A Lubbock man was arrested Saturday, September 12th after police found an improvised explosive device in his car.

KAMC News reports that police responded to a call regarding a car in a field with a subject who had been honking their horn.

Police located 36-year-old Joshua Paul Gayton, who told them that his neighbors were trying to kill him.

After searching his vehicle, officers found a gas can with gas in it as well as a sock, wet with gas, sticking out of the top. There were also 2 unspent shotgun shells stuffed into the can's opening.

Gayton claimed he made the explosive because he was getting prepared for his neighbors.

He was charged with 1 charge of a prohibited weapon and 1 charge of miscellaneous state and city laws.
