Lubbock Man Charged For Lying to Police About His Gunshot Wound
A Lubbock man faces multiple charges after lying to police about how he ended up in the Covenant Emergency Room.
KAMC News reports the man suffered injuries to his knee from a gunshot Friday night, Feb.21. When questioned, he told police that he was shot after he witnessed two men get into an argument at Clapp Park.
He said he was sitting in his car when shots were fired and a bullet injured his knee. He denied owning any weapons, but a search of his vehicle uncovered a rifle and a pistol with the serial number removed. Officers also found a shell casing that matches the pistol.
The man, who has not been identified, now faces charges of lying to police, unlawful carrying and illegal discharge of a firearm in the city, and for tampering with identification numbers.
