Lubbock Man Leaves Baby in Sink With Scalding Water
A Lubbock man was arrested on Thursday, July 21st after it's said he left a child in a sink with scalding water.
KAMC News reports that 32-year-old Ruben Castillo put the child in the sink to rinse them off. He left them there to go and ask the mother to bring a change of clothes from upstairs, but then heard the child scream. When he came back to the kitchen, the water was steaming and the child was pushing against the faucet, seemingly trying to get as far away from the water as possible.
Castillo said that the water was so hot he couldn't even put his hand in it. He called multiple people in an attempt to figure out what to do and was told he should take them to a hospital.
The child was taken to a nearby hospital by their mother with severe burns on their face, torso, lower abdomen and genital area.
Castillo remains in the Lubbock County Detention Center for causing injury to a child. His bond is set at $500,000.
