Local and state law enforcement have been able to track down and arrest a man wanted for manslaughter.

Forty-one-year-old Gabriel Lopez and his brother, 39-year-old Lee Lopez, both had arrest warrants issued for them on Monday, June 10th.

Lee Lopez was arrested in Idaho on Tuesday, June 18th. On Thursday, June 20th, at about 8:30 p.m., Gabriel Lopez was located in the 200 block of 36th Street in Lubbock and was taken into custody.

According to a Lubbock Police Department press release, the U.S. Marshals' North Texas Fugitive Task Force Team Foxtrot and the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team both assisted the department in arresting Lopez.

Both men are accused of being responsible for the death of 26-year-old Jessie Ordonez, who was found severely beaten at a New Year’s Eve party in 1998. Ordanez was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

In 2007, a grand jury was unable to convict the brothers for manslaughter due to insufficient evidence. However, new witness testimony gathered by the Metro Special Crimes Unit of the LPD helped convince the Lubbock County Criminal District Attorney’s Office to issue new arrest warrants.
