Alright, Lubbock...it's Monday. You're staring at your screen, thinking about that second cup of coffee (or maybe third), and wondering if you can survive the rest of the day without losing your mind. Well, guess what?

Today is National Leave Work Early Day

Yep, it’s a real thing—and I'm here for it.

If you’ve been dreaming about an early escape to grab a snow cone from Bahama Buck’s, take a nap in the A/C, or hit up Happy Hour at Caprock Café before the crowd hits, you might just have a golden opportunity. All you need? A believable excuse.

The Funniest One I've Ever Heard

Hey, I have to leave early… my emotional support ferret locked itself in the bathroom and is aggressively chewing through the drywall. I can't emotionally support it from here, and it’s emotionally supporting me, so honestly—this is kind of a codependent emergency.

He got bonus points for saying it with a completely straight face and acting like he was going to be late while all of us were aggressively saying, "WHAT?!?!"

I have no idea if there was an emotional support ferret or if he just made the whole thing up. By the way, that guy got hit by a car and we never saw him again. That's radio, folks!

And hey, if none of those fly at your job, maybe just be honest and ask. Who knows? Your boss might be feeling the Monday blues too.

15 Things You Should Never Store in Your Garage

With Lubbock’s scorching summers, surprise cold snaps in winter, and dry-but-dusty windstorms blowing through, our garages basically become mini-saunas or meat lockers, depending on the time of year. And while we may not deal with the deep Southern humidity, temperature swings and invading critters still pose a serious threat to anything you’re trying to preserve out there.
