Lubbock Police have released the name of the victim killed in Sunday's fatal car crash.

At around 10:20 a.m. Sunday morning (April 1), Lubbock Police responded to a two-vehicle crash near 19th Street and Vicksburg Avenue. When police arrived, they found two trucks that were involved in the crash, a Chevrolet Silverado and a Chevrolet Avalanche.

The driver of the Silverado, 80-year-old Jack Rudolph Wages, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Avalanche, 22-year-old Douglas Dean Sowell, was taken to University Medical Center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

On Tuesday (April 3), Accident Investigators will shut down traffic on 19th Street from Utica Avenue to Slide Road to investigate the scene of the crash. The closure will begin at 1 p.m. and wrap-up around 4 p.m.
