Lubbock Raised! Fond Memories of Growing Up in West Texas
I am very proud to be from Lubbock, Texas. I was born and raised here. I went to Honey Elementary for kindergarten the year it opened and went all the way through 6th grade there. We were called the 'original Honey Bears' and there's quite a few of us who are still great friends and we see each other often. As a matter of fact, I went to a Tech game with one of my Honey classmates just a couple of weeks ago!
I then went to Matthews Junior High, then Evans, then Monterey High School. Yes, I'm a PROUD Peon!
During all of those years, we had a lot of fun goofing around town. But, my very favorite memories come from a little neighborhood called Melonie Park South. That was my 'hood', so to speak. We had a swimming pool, a pretty large playa lake to fish in and all of my friends who lived in Melonie Park (the other side of the loop), Kingsgate, Lakeridge, and Raintree were a bike ride from my house. It was GREAT growing up in Lubbock!
So, we asked you, "What is your favorite childhood memory associated with Lubbock?"
