Teachers On The Rise: Honoring Educators In Lubbock Schools
Here in Lubbock, we know teachers don’t just clock in and clock out—they pour their hearts into their classrooms every single day. And for the fifteenth year in a row, United Supermarkets and Mrs Baird’s are teaming up to make sure those teachers get the recognition they deserve.

Teachers on the Rise
It’s all part of the Teachers on the Rise program, a one-of-a-kind effort that lets students nominate the teachers who’ve made the biggest difference in their lives. From elementary schools to high schools, the program shines a spotlight on the men and women who go the extra mile to help kids succeed.
This year’s big kick-off event happens Tuesday, August 19th, at 4:00 p.m. at the United Supermarkets off 82nd Street & Boston. Representatives from both United and Mrs Baird’s will be on hand with nomination forms and some tasty back-to-school treats to get everyone in the spirit.

How Does it Work?
Every month during the school year, three teachers are recognized—one from elementary, one from middle school, and one from high school. Along with bragging rights, teachers and the students who nominate them both have the chance to win prizes. Nominations are easy to submit online at TeachersOnTheRise.com.
And this isn’t just a small, once-a-year recognition. Over the past decade, thousands of nominations have come in and hundreds of teachers across West Texas have been celebrated. Whether it’s a teacher who made math finally “click,” or someone who went out of their way to encourage a student during a tough time, this program is all about real stories of impact.

Open to the Public
United Supermarkets’ Joey Marcades and Mrs Baird’s Shane Sumrow will be on site Tuesday to help kick things off, and the public is encouraged to stop by, grab a treat, and learn more about how to nominate their favorite educators.
The program is one more way The United Family—celebrating its 109th year of operation—continues to support the communities it serves. With roots right here in Lubbock, United Supermarkets isn’t just where we shop; it’s a company that invests back into the lives of our families, friends, and, of course, our teachers.
So if there’s a teacher in your life who deserves a little recognition, this is your chance. Go to TeachersOnTheRise.com and share their story—you might just make their school year!
