Lubbock’s 806 Marines is Holding a Fundraiser for Meat Lovers
Do you like meat? Do you appreciate our men and women proudly serving our country? Would you like to help them out? Well, have I got just the thing for you!
You may remember when we were doing 'Summer Splash' at Buffalo Springs Lake last month. During the event, we had our friends at 806 Marines out to join us as we helped them raise money for their charity work. Well, they contacted me again to help out with another fundraiser they're doing and of course I'm glad to help!
Here's the info:
What exactly does 'half a cow' mean? What do you get? According to Wikipedia...
- Steaks: A half cow can yield 45–60 cuts of steaks, depending on the size and cuts. The front quarter of the cow includes chuck roasts, brisket, and rib steaks, which are good for slow cooking. The hind quarter includes sirloins, T-bones, and filets, which are good for grilling and quick cooking.
- Roasts: A half cow can yield roasts like rump, chuck, and shoulder.
- Ground beef: A half cow can yield 75–100 lbs of ground beef.
- Other cuts: A half cow can also yield other cuts like ribs, stew meat, soup bones, and organ meats.
The exact cuts you get will depend on the size of the cow and your cutting and wrapping instructions. For example, if you choose boneless steaks, you'll get filets and NY strips, but if you keep the steaks large and bone-in, you'll get t-bones and porterhouses.
