Lubbock’s Creamistry Closes Its Doors for Good
One last scoop is what some customers were able to enjoy on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Lubbock. Creamistry opened in Lubbock in June 2020, and after a little over a year, the run is over.
Sunday was the final day for one of Lubbock's dedicated dessert places. Creamistry, located in the popular West End Shopping Center, abruptly announced on Saturday evening (November 13th) that the Lubbock franchise would be closing its doors for good, with the following day being its last day in business.
Sure enough, a sign on the front door of the ice cream shop Sunday confirmed the bad news:
Creamistry served made-to-order liquid nitrogen ice cream using natural and organic ingredients that could be customized with different flavors and toppings. Creamistry also fairly recently began offering ice cream cakes.
Liquid nitrogen ice cream has become a pretty popular trend across the United States, and that includes here in Lubbock. If you're a fan of Creamistry's Lubbock spot and crave it in the future, bad news: the Dallas area is now where the closest locations can be found.
According to the Creamistry Franchise Overview, the company was founded in 2013 and began franchising in 2014. The company is based out of Irvine, California, with around 40 locations open and operating in three states and three countries. They also report more than 600 locations are in some various stage of development.
The beginning of the company is actually pretty interesting, with a connection to South Korea, according to Franchising.com:
Born into a family of Korean bakers, Jay Yim was first introduced to liquid nitrogen ice cream when he spotted a street vendor making it during a trip to South Korea in 2003. He briefly thought about launching a similar concept in America, but scrapped the idea when he returned home, immersing himself in the family business. He finally decided to move forward with Creamistry – a play on the word chemistry – after he saw similar concepts opening around the country.
We wish the employees and those behind the Creamistry franchise here in Lubbock all the best moving forward.
