MADD Starts Petition to Have Ethan Couch Tried as Adult
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) wants 30,000 signatures to help see "affluenza" teen Ethan Couch, who recently fled the U.S., tried as an adult.
KVUE reports that MADD National President Colleen Sheehey-Church wants everything possible done to hold Couch accountable for the 2013 drunk driving crash that killed four people.
According to the MADD petition:
After fleeing the country, Ethan Couch has been found. Couch, an underage drunk driver who hit and killed four people and injured several others, was never held responsible for his actions. MADD was outraged, along with millions of others when the judge sentenced Couch to a stint in rehab and 10 years in probation after the defense successfully argued that he was too rich to understand what he had done was wrong, better known as ‘Affluenza.’
"Couch is not a child. His actions are not that of a child. Four people were killed and several injured, and Couch continues to show no remorse and blatant disregard for the law," said Sheehey-Church.
Couch is currently still in Mexico after fleeing with his mother, Tonya, who is currently in custody in Tarrant County.
