A man is in custody for attempting to rob a local jewelry store Wednesday (Oct. 9) morning.

At about 4:10 a.m., Lubbock police responded to a burglary alarm at Anderson Brothers Jewelers, located at 8201 Quaker Avenue.

Police say 31-year-old James Casias had broken into the store and was about to drive away when he was apprehended.

Officers found multiple stolen items in his vehicle that belonged to Anderson Brothers and other items that were potentially taken from a business in Plainview.

Casias has been charged with burglary, unlawful possession of body armor, and possession of marijuana.
