Man Who Plotted Mass Shooting in Lubbock Sentenced to 2 Years

20-year-old William Patrick Williams, the Lubbock man who plotted a mass shooting, was sentenced on Thursday, November 5th to 2 years in federal prison.

Williams was charged back in August of 2019 with making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm, a charge he pleaded guilty to later.

KAMC News reports that Williams told his grandmother he recently bought an AK-47 and planned to shoot up a local hotel. He then said he would commit suicide by cop afterwards. Williams' grandmother convinced him to let her bring him to a local hospital.

Officers searched the room at the hotel he rented an found the AK-47, 17 loaded magazines, knives, a trench coat, tactical pants and tactical gloves.

Williams admitted that he lied on the form he used to purchase the AK-47 from a local sporting goods store. He listed an address he didn't live at anymore. It's said the residents of the address Williams listed on the form changed the locks after he moved out. At the time of the purchase of the weapon, he was living with a completely different roommate at a different address.
