Lubbock Mother in Jail for Severe Injuries to 19-Month-Old Daughter
A Lubbock, Texas mom was arrested Tuesday for abandonment or endangerment of a child by neglect.
In August of 2016, police were called when 23-year-old Sabrina Zerrata’s 19-month-old girl was taken to the Covenant Women’s and Children’s emergency room. The child had broken bones in one hand and one foot, cigarette burns, and a brain bleed.
Police investigated the girl’s home in the 500 block of North Boston Avenue. There was evidence of cigarette burns on the girl’s blanket and that Zerrata would get high with a male friend. Original stories told that the child had been injured in a trampoline accident, but Zerrata denied that story.
Thee warrant indicated there was a delay of at least two days from the time the girl started showing signs of severe head injury until the time that she was taken to the emergency room.
Prosecutors asked for a bond of $10,000, but jail records did not yet list the bond she would need to post to get out of jail.
