Multiple Crashes Over the Weekend in Lubbock Leave 3 Dead
Four separate crashes occurred in Lubbock on Saturday and Sunday, leaving multiple injured and some dead.
24-year-old Robert Macias Jr. was involved in a motorcycle crash on 19th Street near Avenue S at around 1 a.m. Saturday morning. He was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Also on Saturday, a car feel from an overpass in the 3900 block of East Loop 289. 31-year-old Raymond Phelps remains in the hospital in critical condition.
The final crash on Saturday happened in the 2600 block of Avenue Q between two pickup trucks at around 4:30 p.m. A 2000 GMC was apparently driving north on Avenue Q and a 1983 Chevy was traveling east on 27th when the two collided at the intersection.
The driver of the Chevy, 69-year-old Juan Trevino was pronounced deceased at the hospital Sunday night. The passenger of the Chevy had moderate injuries, and so did the driver of the GMC.
And on Sunday, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 7800 block of north I-27 just south of Keuka Street. An SUV appears to have been traveling north on I-27 and veered into the center median, flipped, and came to a stop on the northbound guardrail.
The driver, 37-year-old Megan Green was ejected from the SUV and pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The passenger was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.
