New Movie Releases: ‘The Big Year,’ ‘Footloose,’ ‘The Thing’

Whether you want to laugh, dance or just be scared, one of this weekend’s new movies should have something just for you.

In ‘The Big Year,’ Owen Wilson, Jack Black and Steve Martin star as three obsessive bird watchers duking it out to see who can spot the most species in a given year.

‘Footloose,’ the much-talked-about remake of the 1984 classic, retells the story of a transplanted big city teen who challenges his small town community’s ban on loud music and dancing.

And in ‘The Thing,’ a scientific expedition stumbles across an extraterrestrial ship in the ice, awakening a murderous, shape-shifting creature.
