If you're a fan of 1980s cop movies, you may remember one of the songs from the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack: "The Heat Is On" by Glenn Frey. Well, over the next 7-10 days in Lubbock, the heat will be on.

Meteorologist Jacob Riley, who works with Ron Roberts at KAMC, noted that two separate climate models show high temps in Lubbock breaking the 110 degree mark over the coming 7-10 days.

In fact, one model projects a high temperature on Monday, July 13th of 115 degrees. Yes, 115 degrees. I hope it's a dry heat.

According to the National Weather Service, the all-time high temperature in Lubbock is 114 degrees, recorded on June 27th, 1994.

If you have pets at home, you'll want to keep them inside over the next few weeks while this heatwave makes its way through West Texas.
