Kerrie Orozco was a Detective OPD for the North Gang Suppression Squad and was serving a warrant when gunfire broke out.

According to the report, Orozco went to serve the felony warrant to 26-year-old Marcus Wheeler. The incident is still under investigation, but gunfire erupted, and both the 29-year-old Orozco and the suspect were hit.

The report says paramedics performed CPR on both the officer and the suspect as they were rushed to the Creighton University Medical Center, but neither survived.

Wheeler was a convicted felon and known gang member wanted in relation to a previous shooting.

The report says Orozco delivered her baby girl Olivia Ruth early in February. She stayed in the hospital for three months and was due to come home on Thursday — when Orozco was "due to take time off to look after her."
