Apparently, regular OREOs weren't spooky enough.

Just in time for Halloween, Dairy Queen restaurants across Texas are rolling out a brand-new Blizzard that's purple, shimmery and flavored with something you probably don't see every day in Lubbock.

The Enchanted OREO Blizzard Treat is DQ's Blizzard of the Month for October, and it'll only be hanging around through the end of the month.

So, What's in the Purple Blizzard?

The new Blizzard starts with the familiar stuff: OREO cookie pieces blended into DQ soft serve.

Then things get interesting.

Dairy Queen has added ube flavor to the mix, giving the Blizzard its distinctive purple appearance, and finishes the whole thing with a purple shimmer on top.

If you've never encountered ube before, you're probably not alone.

Ube is a purple yam commonly used in Filipino desserts, known for its naturally vibrant color and sweet flavor. And before you spend five minutes debating how to order it at the drive-thru, it's pronounced: OO-beh

There. Now you can order with confidence.

It's Only Around for October

The Enchanted OREO Blizzard will be available at participating Texas Dairy Queen restaurants through the end of October, so this isn't one of those menu items you can procrastinate on until Christmas.

Texas Dairy Queen Operators' Council CEO Lou Romanus said:

October is filled with fun traditions, and the NEW! Enchanted OREO Blizzard Treat gives DQ fans across Texas a delicious new way to celebrate the season

He added that the combination of OREO pieces, ube flavor and the Blizzard's purple color should make it something DQ fans will want to try.

I have to admit, they've certainly nailed the Halloween look.

There Are More Fall Blizzards, Too

If purple yam and OREOs aren't your thing, the Enchanted OREO isn't the only seasonal option.

The new flavor joins DQ's Fall Blizzard Treat Collection, which also includes the Brown Sugar Cookie Dough Blizzard Treat and the returning Pumpkin Pie Blizzard Treat.

So we're apparently at that wonderful point in the Lubbock calendar when you can eat a Pumpkin Pie Blizzard while it's still warm enough outside to wonder whether fall actually exists.

Look for It at Texas Dairy Queens

Dairy Queen has been serving Texans for more than 79 years, and the Enchanted OREO Blizzard is the company's latest limited-time attempt to keep us from ordering the exact same thing we've ordered since we were 12.

You'll find the new Blizzard at participating Texas DQ locations throughout October.

You can find locations and additional information through DQ Texas.

I'm not entirely sure what an “enchanted” OREO is supposed to be.

But make it purple, throw it in a Blizzard and cover it with shimmer?

Yeah, I'll probably try it.
