A Cool Front of Holiday Flavor Blows Into Texas

Nothing says “it’s the holidays” in Texas quite like a trip to Dairy Queen, and this year’s Blizzard lineup is bringing some serious seasonal cheer. DQ restaurants across Texas--including right here in Lubbock--are kicking off the holidays with two must-try treats: the NEW Peppermint Bark Blizzard Treat and the returning favorite, Frosted Sugar Cookie Blizzard Treat. Both are available now through the end of the year.

The Peppermint Bark Blizzard Treat blends DQ’s classic soft serve with layers of white and milk chocolate, plus crunchy peppermint candy cane pieces mixed in for good measure. It’s sweet, refreshing, and built for that first “official” taste of Christmas. Each spoonful hits with a cool peppermint crunch that makes it easy to forget you’re in West Texas instead of the North Pole.

A Holiday Favorite Returns to the Blizzard of the Month Spotlight

If peppermint isn’t your go-to, the Frosted Sugar Cookie Blizzard Treat is back as December’s Blizzard of the Month—and it’s pure nostalgia in a cup. This creamy concoction combines soft sugar cookie pieces, icing, and colorful sprinkles, all blended with DQ’s world-famous soft serve. It’s basically Christmas cookie dough and soft-serve ice cream rolled into one sweet, spoonable cup of deliciousness!

Lou Romanus, CEO of the Texas Dairy Queen Operators’ Council, summed it up best:

Our fans love a Texas-sized reason to celebrate at DQ restaurants in Texas. Kicking off the holiday season with two delicious Blizzard treats is the best way to spread cheer and give fans another reason to visit their local DQ all winter long.

Sweet Treats, Gift Cards, and Texas Tradition

Beyond the Blizzards, DQ locations are also offering holiday-themed gift cards this year—perfect for spreading the joy (or giving yourself a little treat fund).

For 78 years, Texas Dairy Queens have been a go-to stop for burgers, fries, and those famous “Treats and Eats.” And with the holiday lineup now in full swing, there’s never been a better excuse to swing through for dessert after a Lubbock Christmas lights tour.
