Police Release 911 Calls from Plane Crash at KCBD
The Lubbock Police Department has released two 911 calls made after a small plane hit the KCBD 11 television tower Wednesday night (Feb. 4).
The crash killed the pilot, Dr. Mike Rice. Flight records show he was flying from Carlsbad, New Mexico to Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport. No other injuries or fatalities have been reported.
During the flight, Rice's plane clipped a wire on the tower, knocking a part of it down near the KCBD TV studios.
Crews took down the remaining section of the tower in a controlled demolition Thursday afternoon.
Funeral details for Dr. Rice have been confirmed by his family.
