Record Store Black Friday Returns to Lubbock’s Ralphs Records
Ralph's Records (82nd & Indiana) has been Lubbock's independent record store for over 42 years. That's pretty special and worth celebrating. And a great time to celebrate is on Record Store Black Friday (11/25).
Record Store Black Friday (RSBF) is very different from other black Friday events.
We work year-round to shine a light on the independent businesses in your local community that sell you records and other things that make you happy, make you smile, make you sing, bring you comfort, bring people together. Everything you find in a record store (or on a record store’s website) would make a great gift for someone, and it may feel a little extra nice to wrap up and give (or get!) a little something knowing its purchase helps a local, independent store.
It's not about "doorbuster deals", even though Ralph's will have some really awesome sales. RSBR is all about snagging the rarest, and choicest vinyl records. Limited, exclusive, and small-run/ regional records will be available. RSBF has a website that lists every possible record that Ralph's could receive, but what Ralph's ultimately gets is a bit of a surprise. It's like a treasure hunt, and it's really fun to participate. You can see the full list of possibilities here, but this is my short list:
It's All In Your Mind | Beck |
Wish (30th Anniversary Edition) | The Cure |
Live at Hammersmith '82 | Duran Duran |
Taxi | Bryan Ferry |
IMPERA | Ghost-Picture Disk! |
Bad Habits | Giovannie and the Hired Guns- Cassette |
Shot | Jesus Lizard |
Everybody (40th Anniversary) | Madonna |
The Lost Tapes Vol.3 (Live in Malmo 2000) | Motorhead |
Live At The Library Theatre '83 | Nico |
Jonathan Sings! | Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers |
Get there EARLY for the best selection. Ralph's will also have plenty of special deals on non-RSD picks too. Expect deals on CDs and DVDs. Ralph's ordered a brand-spanking new $5 T-shirt design as well. It's going to be a lot of fun, and you'll know that you are supporting a local Lubbock institution.
