Robert Downey Jr. Accepts Generation Award + Debuts ‘Avengers’ Trailer at the 2015 MTV Movie Awards
Not only was Robert Downey Jr. awarded the Generation Award at the 2015 MTV Movie Award but he also introduced a special sneak preview of the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron movie. His fellow Avengers castmates presented the award to him, kneeling to the ground before him as he gave his acceptance speech. You can check out the full speech below.
When I witnessed the first MTV Movie Awards in 1992, I said, 'Wow that's my generation's version of the Oscars.' But when the first generation award was given in 2005 I thought, simply, where's mine. And I've spent ten long years waiting to emerge from a massive trippy cat head and receive the recognition I've so desired, so thank you for that. In the 34 years that have passed since the birth of MTV, I've grown up, I've struggled, I've failed, I've succeeded, I've partied way too much. Therefore, I've squandered resistance, surrendered, repented, labored, begged for second chances and literally clawed my way to the top. I've tried to live honorably and never forget my love of the game or my friends. So if a man is judged by the company he keeps then I must be doing something right, because look who I'm rolling with. On behalf of my fellow Avengers, I invite you to dream big, work hard, keep your nose clean, be of service and yes because you can define your generation.
He then went on to introduce a clip of the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron film. The clip shows Robert's character, Iron Man, fighting Mark Ruffalo's character, The Hulk. It's a pretty intense fight scene that shows Tony Stark trying to help Bruce Banner overcome some kind of mind control he's under. You can check out the clip in the video above.
