Slender Man-obsessed 14-year-old Tries to Kill Family, Burns Down House
In the latest facepalm-inducing story from the world of Slender Man, a young girl obsessed with The Arrival's antagonist has burned down her house in an attempt to kill her family, who were asleep inside.
NBC 8 reports that a 14-year-old girl of Port Richey, FL is being accused of trying to kill her family via setting their house on fire. Luckily, the girl's mother and 9-year-old brother were able to escape the burning house. Upon realizing that the 14-year-old was missing, firemen re-entered the building while it was ablaze, searching for the missing girl, only to find out she was alright and was actually the source of the fire.
The Pasco County Police Department claims that the girl was an avid fan of the websites CreepyPasta and SoulEater. She was particularly obsessed with the Slender Man figure seen in Slender: The Arrival, various horror-oriented message boards and other dark places of the Internet. For those who do not know, SoulEater and CreepyPasta mostly contain dark, macabre-style fiction and violent stories geared towards a much older audience. In particular, Soul Eater's story struck a nerve with the girl in regards to bullying and her mother trying to disciplining her in the past.
The girl reportedly made a rum and bleach concoction which she sprayed onto a towel and bed sheet. She then set the towel and sheet on fire in the garage and left the building, escaping to a nearby park where she was found with a small supply of food, water and a blanket. The girl sent text messages to her mother during the fire, saying "Mom Im so sorry I dont know why I did it" and "Did any of u get hurt." You would think that someone who reads so much would use proper grammar.
The teen is being charged with one count of arson, two counts of attempted murder and has admitted to setting fire after an argument she had with her family the night before.
This past May, two 12-year-old girls obsessed with Slender Man stabbed a classmate 19 times. The two Wisconsin girls tried to kill their friend based on something they read about Slender Man online. The victim luckily survived and the attackers are being charged as adults, facing up to 65 years in prison apiece.
