Give Back for Back-to-School

Starting now through September 6th, the mall is hosting its “Give Back for Back-to-School” event, teaming up with The FOUND Mission to collect school uniforms and tennis shoes for students in standardized dress school districts across the region.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Donate financially: Just $35 buys a full uniform. $75 covers both a uniform and a new pair of shoes.

  • Bring items: As you shop, pick up an extra polo, sweatshirt, pair of shoes, or socks, and drop them off at the Gift of Learning Wall in Grand Court.

It’s an easy way to make a big difference—right while you’re doing your own shopping.

The Texas Sales Tax Holiday is Back

And speaking of shopping... the Texas Sales Tax Holiday is back! From Friday, August 8th through Sunday, August 10th, most clothes and shoes under $100 are completely tax-free. That’s a solid 8% savings per dollar spent.

We’re talking everything from jeans and sneakers to backpacks and binders. And if you’ve got multiple kids (or just a long school supply list), that adds up fast. On top of the tax break, many South Plains Mall retailers are planning additional sales and in-store promos. So yeah—it’s a good weekend to shop.

What is the Gift of Learning Wall?

If you’ve never seen the Gift of Learning Wall, it’s a simple but powerful idea: grab a paper apple off the display in the Grand Court, and on it you’ll see a real need from a local student—like a size of shoes or a specific school uniform item. You fulfill that need, drop it off, and help a Lubbock-area kid walk into the classroom feeling prepared and proud.
