Lubbock Chase Ends With K9 Capture After Stolen Car Crash
A Morning Chase Near 8th and Raleigh
Early yesterday morning, what started as a routine traffic stop quickly turned into a chase through a Lubbock neighborhood. According to the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy spotted a stolen vehicle near 8th Street and Raleigh. When the deputy tried to pull it over, the driver decided to make a run for it.

The chase didn’t last long. In less than a minute, the stolen car plowed into a fence near 8th Street and Salem, bringing the getaway to a screeching halt.
K9 Officer Takes Down the Driver
Both the driver and the female passenger jumped out of the vehicle and tried to escape on foot. The deputy behind the attempted stop just so happened to be a K9 handler, and his four-legged partner was more than ready for action.
EDIT: Deputies say 42-year-old Alexis Villarreal was behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle, and he’s now facing a laundry list of charges: Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest on Foot, and Resisting Arrest. His passenger, 45-year-old Anna Duncan, didn’t exactly get off easy either—she’s been booked for Evading Arrest on Foot after trying to make a run for it. Both are now cooling their heels in custody while this case moves forward.

The K9 was released and successfully apprehended the male driver. The driver ended up needing a trip to a local hospital for treatment after being bitten during the takedown.
Passenger Runs But Doesn’t Get Far
While the K9 had the driver under control, the female passenger kept running. That’s when backup came in. Officers from the Lubbock Police Department and the South Plains Auto Theft Task Force joined the chase, working alongside the Sheriff’s Office.
Their combined efforts paid off—she was found and taken into custody by LPD officers. Thankfully, she didn’t report any injuries.
What’s Next in the Investigation?
Both suspects are now detained and being questioned. At this point, their names haven’t been released. The Sheriff’s Office says that information will become available if and when they are officially charged and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center.
