The three remaining Monkees won't be attending Davy Jones' funeral, but only out of respect for his family. They figure their presence would cause all manner of media chaos.
The world has lost a pop culture icon. Davy Jones, lead singer and adorable tambourine player for the TV troublemakers and original boy band The Monkees, passed away after a sudden heart attack. Much like his Beatles counterparts, this British heart throb was a teen idol and drove girls crazy around the world.
Here's a clip of Davy Jones auditioning for 'The Monkees' back in 1965. A producer asks if girls liked him, even though he was only 5'3". Davy says he likes tall girls, and thinks they're 'groovy.'
In the wake of Davy Jones’ sudden passing yesterday (Feb. 29), his fans and musical peers have taken to their social media networks of choice to share their sorrow and disbelief — as have Jones’ former bandmates in the Monkees, all of whom have posted public expressions of grief.
